IT Security Engineering Intern
Summary
Internship on NETS's Security Architecture & Engineering team under the CISO: the intern documents security architecture and standards, builds Excel dashboards tracking cybersecurity KPIs, researches emerging threats, and assists senior engineers with secure designs, tool evaluations, and automation scripting (Python/Bash/PowerShell).
Team and Position Summary
Seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Cybersecurity Intern to join Security Architecture & Engineering function under CISO. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in protecting enterprise systems, networks, and data from cyber threats, while exposing key stakeholders involved in maintaining and managing organization security controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Help document architecture decisions, security design patterns, engineering standards and BAU.
- Develop and maintain Excel dashboards to track cybersecurity KPIs (e.g., number of incidents, patch compliance, vulnerability status).
- Conduct research on emerging cybersecurity threats and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with senior cybersecurity engineers to assist in designing and implementing secure network and system architectures.
- Assist in evaluating new security technologies and tools, preparing comparative analysis reports for engineering leadership.
- Shadow senior engineers during security assessments and architecture planning sessions.
- Contribute to automation efforts by writing scripts or using tools to streamline security operations and engineering tasks.
- Support the creation of technical documentation, diagrams, and presentations for internal stakeholders.

Requirements
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or related fields
- Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles, network protocols, and operating systems.
- Familiarity with security tools such as firewalls, antivirus software, and SIEM platforms is a plus.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions (e.g., VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, IF statements).
- Experience with pivot tables, charts, and data visualization techniques
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
- Available to commence internship from January 2027, Full time.
