This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an IT Senior Architect – Windows Server & Infrastructure based in India.
This is a senior architecture role focused on shaping and governing enterprise Windows Server and core infrastructure platforms within a global digital organization.
You will define technology roadmaps, architecture standards, reference designs, and governance principles across complex infrastructure environments.
The role has a strong strategic focus, with responsibility for ensuring outsourced infrastructure services align with security, cost, resilience, and modernization objectives.
You will act as the technical authority for Windows Server, identity, virtualization, backup, disaster recovery, databases, and datacenter infrastructure.
Working across technology teams and managed service partners, you will translate business needs into scalable, secure, and resilient infrastructure solutions.
You will also influence transformation initiatives, reduce technical debt, identify optimization opportunities, and support a broader hybrid-cloud strategy.

Accountabilities:
- Own and evolve the enterprise architecture for Windows Server and core infrastructure platforms, ensuring alignment with strategic business and technology objectives.
- Define and maintain technology roadmaps covering server platforms, identity, virtualization, backup, disaster recovery, and datacenter infrastructure.
- Establish architecture standards, reference architectures, design principles, implementation guidelines, and governance practices.
- Serve as the design authority for strategic infrastructure projects, reviewing and approving solution designs and major infrastructure changes.
- Define technical standards across Microsoft Windows Server, identity federation and SSO, DNS/DHCP, Microsoft SQL Server infrastructure, Veeam backup and disaster recovery, file and print services, virtualization, datacenter hosting, and infrastructure monitoring.
- Govern outsourced infrastructure services and work closely with managed service providers to ensure delivery against architecture, security, quality, cost, and compliance expectations.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and identify opportunities for infrastructure modernization, standardization, consolidation, simplification, and automation.
- Ensure infrastructure architecture is aligned with cybersecurity requirements, hardening standards, enterprise architecture principles, and hybrid-cloud objectives.
- Manage architectural risks, technical escalations, technical debt, and infrastructure-related dependencies.
- Participate in architecture review boards, governance forums, critical incident management, and problem management activities where specialist architectural input is required.
- Maintain accurate architecture documentation, technical decision records, reference designs, and knowledge-sharing materials.
- Identify cost optimization opportunities and drive continuous improvement and operational excellence across infrastructure services.
- Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to balance requirements, risk, cost, performance, resilience, and long-term technology strategy.
- 7+ years of experience in infrastructure architecture, enterprise architecture, or senior infrastructure engineering roles.
- Proven experience designing and governing enterprise-scale hybrid infrastructure environments within complex global IT organizations.
- Demonstrated experience managing or governing outsourced infrastructure services and working effectively with managed service providers.
- Strong track record delivering infrastructure transformation, modernization, standardization, or consolidation initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server environments, hybrid-cloud architecture, infrastructure security, and system hardening.
- Solid understanding of virtualization technologies, particularly VMware and VxRail-based environments.
- Strong knowledge of automation and scripting, particularly PowerShell, along with high-availability and fault-tolerant infrastructure design principles.
- Familiarity with enterprise infrastructure services including identity and SSO, DNS/DHCP, SQL Server, backup and disaster recovery, file services, datacenter platforms, and infrastructure monitoring.
- Working knowledge of ITIL processes and enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound architectural decisions in complex environments.
- Strategic mindset and strong ownership, with the ability to balance business requirements, security, risk, cost, and technology considerations.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Strong documentation skills and a structured approach to maintaining architecture standards, decisions, and technical guidance.
