POSITION SUMMARY
Position: IT Specialist
Reports to: IT Manager
Location: Easley, SC
The IT Specialist provides hands-on technical support for employees, business systems, network-connected equipment, and facility technology across office, manufacturing, warehouse, and remote-user environments. This position serves as a primary point of contact for day-to-day IT needs and works closely with the IT Manager to maintain reliable, secure, and well-documented technology operations.
The ideal candidate is a customer-focused problem solver who is comfortable supporting users at all levels of the organization, troubleshooting technology in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, and escalating complex infrastructure or security issues when appropriate.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Provide responsive technical support for desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, tablets, phones, mobile devices, and related business technology.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, login, email, connectivity, file-access, printing, and application issues.
- Support Microsoft 365 services including user accounts, Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, MFA, licensing, and user access requests.
- Assist with Active Directory administration, including user accounts, group memberships, password resets, file-share permissions, and basic Group Policy support.
- Support wired and wireless network connectivity, including switch ports, wireless access points, VLAN assignments, VPN access, and basic network troubleshooting.
- Assist with support and maintenance of Ubiquiti firewalls, switches, wireless access points, and network monitoring tools under the direction of the IT Manager.
- Support IBM iSeries / AS400 users with terminal access, printer sessions, connectivity, and basic ODBC or database-access troubleshooting.
- Assist with employee onboarding and offboarding by preparing equipment, creating accounts, assigning access, configuring MFA, and completing account deactivation tasks.
- Support endpoint security, patching, antivirus, MFA enforcement, asset tracking, and backup-validation activities.
- Maintain accurate IT documentation, equipment inventory, support records, user procedures, and troubleshooting notes.
- Support ERP systems, business applications, reporting tools, and plant-floor technology as needed.
- Assist with security cameras, badge-access systems, door controls, handheld devices, and other facility technology.
- Escalate complex network, server, cloud, cybersecurity, ERP, and vendor-related issues to the IT Manager or appropriate support provider.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
End-User Support
- Serve as a primary contact for employee technical support requests across office, manufacturing, warehouse, and remote-user environments.
- Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain computers, monitors, printers, scanners, tablets, phones, and other assigned equipment.
- Diagnose and resolve common hardware, operating system, software, printing, email, login, and connectivity issues.
- Provide clear and professional communication to users, keeping them informed on the status of their support requests.
- Document support activity, resolutions, recurring issues, and equipment assignments in the company’s IT support system.
- User Accounts and Microsoft 365 Support
- Create and maintain user accounts, email access, security groups, shared mailboxes, distribution lists, and basic permissions.
- Support Microsoft 365 applications including Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Microsoft Office.
- Assist with MFA enrollment, password resets, account recovery, and access troubleshooting.
- Prepare and deploy technology for new employees, including computers, peripherals, phones, and required software.
- Assist with employee offboarding by recovering equipment and ensuring accounts and access are disabled promptly.
Network, Systems, and Business Application Support
- Troubleshoot wired and wireless network connectivity issues for users, printers, handhelds, workstations, and network-connected equipment.
- Assist with switch-port configuration, VLAN assignments, wireless access-point troubleshooting, VPN access, and network-cabling issues under the direction of the IT Manager.
- Support Windows Server services by assisting with Active Directory, file shares, permissions, DNS, DHCP, and print services.
- Support IBM iSeries / AS400 users with terminal access, printer sessions, user access, and connectivity issues.
- Assist with ERP, reporting, database connectivity, label-printing, and other business application support as needed.
- Escalate infrastructure, server, firewall, cloud, ERP, and security issues that require advanced troubleshooting or administrative changes.
Manufacturing and Facility Technology Support
- Support technology used in manufacturing and warehouse operations, including workstations, printers, scanners, handheld devices, tablets, and network-connected equipment.
- Partner with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, and Automation teams to troubleshoot basic communication and connectivity issues affecting plant-floor systems.
- Assist with maintenance and troubleshooting of surveillance cameras, badge-access systems, door controls, and related facility-security technology.
- Support basic structured-cabling tasks, patching, equipment moves, and workstation deployments as needed.
Cybersecurity and Documentation
- Assist the IT Manager with endpoint protection, patch management, MFA, phishing prevention, vulnerability remediation, and access-control activities.
- Follow company IT security policies and report suspicious activity, potential security incidents, or unusual system behavior promptly.
- Maintain accurate equipment inventory, software-license records, user procedures, support documentation, and troubleshooting guides.
- Assist with backup checks, recovery testing, and documentation of technology processes.
- Identify recurring issues and recommend practical improvements to user experience, reliability, and support processes.
Projects and Vendor Coordination
- Assist the IT Manager with technology projects, including computer deployments, network improvements, Wi-Fi optimization, server upgrades, cloud migrations, software rollouts, cabling projects, and security-system enhancements.
- Coordinate with vendors, software providers, internet providers, ERP support teams, and contractors as directed.
- Participate in testing, documentation, implementation, and user communication for IT changes and technology rollouts.
EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING
- Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
- 2+ years of hands-on IT support, help desk, desktop support, network support, or systems support experience preferred.
- Experience supporting Microsoft 365, Windows 10/11, Active Directory, printers, end-user hardware, and common business applications.
- Familiarity with networking concepts including IP addressing, VLANs, switches, wireless networking, VPNs, and basic troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with Ubiquiti networking equipment is preferred.
- Basic understanding of Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, file shares, and permissions.
- Basic familiarity with IBM iSeries / AS400 terminal access, printers, or database connectivity is preferred.
- Experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, industrial, or multi-site environment is preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting, organization, communication, and customer-service skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience supporting ERP systems, reporting tools, label printers, barcode scanners, or industrial business applications.
- Experience with Microsoft Intune, endpoint protection, patch-management tools, and mobile-device management.
- Familiarity with Azure, Microsoft 365 administration, and cloud-based business applications.
- Experience with surveillance systems, access-control systems, structured cabling, fiber, rack layouts, and physical network infrastructure.
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft 365 Fundamentals, Azure Fundamentals, or equivalent hands-on experience.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This role may require travel to various company locations and sites, and the position may involve working in both office and manufacturing environments.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina. Must be able to lift 50 or more pounds at a time.
