IT Specialist (Principal IT Solutions Architect)
This position is located in the Small Business Administration, Office of the Chief Information Officer in Washington, D.C. The incumbent serves as the Principal IT Solutions Architect within the OCIO Cloud and Infrastructure Management Division (CIMD) and is SBA's recognized senior authority for enterprise solutions architecture, target-state design, and cloudnative modernization.
As an IT Specialist (Principal IT Solutions Architect) at the GS- 2210-15, some of your typical work assignments may include: Provide strategic architecture advice to top agency officials on integrating IT programs and functions of equivalent scope and complexity. Define and maintain enterprise reference architectures, ADRs, reusable design patterns, and technology-selection frameworks across infrastructure, platforms, and services. Build technical roadmaps, business cases, cost-benefit and total-cost-of-ownership models, and performance-measurement frameworks to shape enterprise IT investment decisions. Lead cross-agency design assignments and collaborations that integrate SBA platforms with partner agencies and government-wide initiatives. Research emerging technologies, threats (including adversarial AI and legacy cloud vulnerabilities), and architecture practices and assess their implications for agency.
