IT SUPPORT ENGINEER - WIMBLEDON

£40,000 - £42,000 | 5 Days Onsite | IT Support / Infrastructure / Networking

  • Salary of £40,000 - £42,000 depending on experience
  • Wimbledon based - onsite Monday to Friday
  • Broad technical environment covering Windows, networking, infrastructure and Microsoft technologies
  • Long-term career opportunity with genuine technical development and progression

ABOUT THE CLIENT

We're working with an established IT services business in Wimbledon that's looking for an IT Support Engineer to join its growing technical team.

This isn't your typical high-volume IT support environment. The business takes a more considered approach to supporting its customers, with a real emphasis on technical quality, understanding problems properly and delivering lasting solutions rather than simply closing tickets as quickly as possible.

They're looking for someone who enjoys working with technology, takes pride in their technical ability and wants to build a long-term career within a business where their contribution will genuinely matter.

THE IT SUPPORT ENGINEER ROLE

As an IT Support Engineer, you'll provide hands-on technical support across a variety of customer environments, working with Windows systems, networking, infrastructure and Microsoft technologies.

You'll be responsible for diagnosing and resolving technical issues, maintaining existing systems, supporting users and working alongside experienced engineers on more complex infrastructure problems and projects.

The environment includes Microsoft 365, SharePoint and cloud-based technologies, but previous experience with all of these isn't essential. If your background is more focused on traditional on-premise infrastructure, Windows environments or networking, we'd still be very interested in speaking with you.

What matters most is having a solid understanding of the technologies you've worked with, being able to troubleshoot logically and taking pride in getting things right.

You don't need to come from an MSP background either. Engineers from internal IT teams, infrastructure support environments or other technical backgrounds are equally welcome.

IT SUPPORT ENGINEER ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Hands-on experience in an IT Support, Systems Support or Infrastructure Support role
  • Good understanding of Windows desktop and server environments
  • Experience working with Active Directory and user administration
  • Sound networking fundamentals, including DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP and connectivity troubleshooting
  • Confidence diagnosing hardware, software and general infrastructure issues
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical problems independently and recognise when escalation is appropriate
  • Good communication skills and a customer-focused approach
  • A genuine interest in technology and developing your technical knowledge
  • Able to work onsite in Wimbledon five days per week
  • Looking for a stable, long-term opportunity where you can continue developing

Desirable, but not essential:

  • Microsoft 365, SharePoint or Intune
  • Group Policy administration
  • Firewall and router support
  • Virtualisation technologies
  • Experience working within an MSP or IT services environment

We're not expecting candidates to have experience with every technology listed. We're far more interested in people who genuinely understand the systems they've worked with and can demonstrate that knowledge through practical experience.
