GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Performs highly complex (senior-level) computer systems support work in a help desk setting. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides technical assistance and advanced troubleshooting for computer hardware, operating systems, business applications, printers, scanners, mobile devices, telehealth equipment, and network-connected peripherals.
- Reviews and resolves escalated or recurring technical support issues by gathering relevant information, reviewing configurations and logs, isolating probable causes, implementing or recommending corrective action, and documenting measures to reduce recurrence.
- Installs, configures, tests, maintains, repairs, replaces, and supports computers, peripherals, operating systems, approved software, user settings, and connectivity at Center locations in accordance with established standards.
- Supports assigned technology projects, including software deployments, system upgrades, equipment deployments, and technology-standardization initiatives; develops appropriate work plans, schedules, checklists, testing steps, rollback procedures, and completion criteria.
- Coordinates assigned technical and project activities with Information Technology staff, Center departments, vendors, and site contacts; communicates schedules, service impacts, dependencies, issues, and completion status.
- Supports equipment lifecycle activities by evaluating device condition, identifying replacement needs, preparing equipment for deployment or reassignment, maintaining applicable records, and verifying secure disposition requirements.
- Tests patches, software releases, configuration changes, and equipment solutions before broader deployment; documents results, identified issues, and unresolved risks.
- Assists with security and compliance remediation involving endpoint configuration, approved software, access controls, encryption, antivirus protection, patch status, and other assigned technical controls.
- Evaluates computer hardware, software, and peripheral solutions and assists with pilots and testing to support technical and purchasing decisions.
- Maintains accurate equipment, configuration, troubleshooting, project, and support documentation and prepares technical findings, project updates, completion reports, and recommendations related to assigned activities.
- Provides technical guidance and knowledge transfer to Information Technology staff and assists users with technology procedures and equipment operation.
- Maintains compliance with required Center training and completes professional development, continuing education, and cross-training necessary to maintain technical competency.
- Demonstrates high ethical standards, trustworthiness, and personal integrity.
- Maintains regular attendance, dependability, and promptness during established or agreed-upon work hours to support consistent business operations.
- Performs related work as assigned.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
Experience and Education
- Experience in computer systems support or related information technology support work.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Coursework in computer science, information technology, or a related field is preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Central Counties Services incorporates principles of trauma-informed care, including cultural sensitivity, in all areas of service delivery. This position is responsible for learning about and implementing trauma-informed practices within the scope of its work.
- Knowledge of computer operations, information systems, hardware and software, endpoint support, local and wide area networks, information security, access controls, and practices for protecting confidential and sensitive information.
- Skill in installing, configuring, supporting, and troubleshooting computers, operating systems, business applications, peripherals, mobile devices, and related technology.
- Skill in analyzing and resolving technical problems, documenting findings and corrective actions, and communicating technical information effectively to users and Information Technology staff.
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple assignments, work independently, provide effective technical assistance, and provide technical guidance and knowledge transfer to Information Technology staff.
- Ability to protect confidential information and apply appropriate security and access-control practices when supporting systems that store, transmit, or provide access to protected health information or other sensitive Center information.
