IT Support Specialist

Discussion
Purpose of the Role
Aspect Energy runs a lean, non-corporate IT environment supporting its Hungarian sites and its operations in Croatia. This role exists to improve core IT infrastructure and end-user support and day-to-day systems operation. The position also safeguards Aspect's compliance with the NIS2 directive, carrying significant responsibility during the company's annual IT audit cycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operates and maintains the Microsoft-based server and workstation environment (Windows Server, Active Directory, Entra, Intune and Microsoft 365) to keep Hungarian sites running reliably day to day.
  • Improve IT infrastructure operations and work closely with external managed-services contractors.
  • Delivers first- and second-line support to end users across Hungarian sites.
(On-site visits when an issue cannot be resolved remotely)
  • Supports the Croatian site's IT needs entirely remotely, coordinating with local contacts to resolve incidents without on-site travel.
  • Monitors and configures network devices (switches, routers, firewalls) at a working level, escalating complex network changes to specialist vendors when required.
  • Manages relationships with external IT vendors and contractors, agreeing scope, tracking service levels, and evaluating the quality of delivered work.
  • Runs preventive maintenance (patching, backups, health checks) across servers and workstations to reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Maintains documentation of systems, configurations and procedures to support audit readiness and knowledge continuity.
  • Contribution to the annual IT audit required under the NIS2 directive, gathering evidence, tracking findings and closing corrective actions.
  • Advises department heads and end users on IT security practices, hardware/software needs and cost-effective technology choices.
  • Coordinates with the US parent company's IT department to align local infrastructure and security practices with group-wide standards.
  • Identifies recurring technical problems and designs system-level fixes instead of repeated manual workarounds, proactively proposing improvements to the IT Manager.
  • Occasional travel is required (approx. 1 per every quarter) to Hungarian sites (Szeged, Lakócsa, Sarkad) for on-site support; Croatia support is remote-only.
Education
  • No specific IT degree is required; genuine professional interest in IT and hands-on technical attitude matter more than formal qualifications.

Hard Skills / Technical Skills
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft infrastructure: Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365 / Azure AD.
  • Hands-on experience administering Windows servers; Linux server experience is a strong advantage.
  • Working-level understanding of networking (switches, routers, VLANs, basic firewall rules) — comfortable configuring and troubleshooting network devices, not just naming them.
  • Experience supporting end-user hardware and software in an office environment.
  • Familiarity with vendor and contract management (SLAs, incident tracking, procurement).
  • Exposure to IT compliance or audit processes (e.g., NIS2, ISO 27001) is a plus but not required.

Soft Skills / Behavioral Competencies
  • Communication: explains technical issues clearly to non-technical colleagues and reports concisely to management.
  • Stakeholder management: comfortable working with end users, external vendors, and the parent company's IT team.
  • Ownership and proactivity: notices problems before they escalate and proposes structural fixes, not just quick patches.
  • Adaptability: thrives in a smaller, less formalized company setting without heavy enterprise process.
  • Prioritization and time management: balances reactive support requests with planned maintenance and audit work.
  • Open, approachable personality: comfortable picking up the phone or walking over to talk to people.

Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in general IT systems operation/administration.
  • Experience in mid-sized company environment is an advantage.

Languages
  • Hungarian: native level.
  • English: confident conversational level.
  • Croatian: not required; a strong asset if present.

  • Home office 1 day per week
  • Free parking
  • Free fruits and snacks
