Overview
Seeking a hands-on IT Support Technician to support
and maintain critical IT and communications infrastructure across operational
sites.
The successful candidate will be responsible for network
support, hardware troubleshooting, and maintaining connectivity for operational
systems, ensuring minimal downtime and reliable performance.
Due to the nature of the site environment, the role may
require working at heights and in industrial areas, therefore candidates
must be physically fit and able to pass a fitness-to-work medical assessment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide on-site IT
support for hardware, software, and network-related issues.
- Install, configure, and
maintain network infrastructure including routers, switches, and
wireless systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve LAN/WAN connectivity issues.
- Support Cisco
networking equipment and ensure optimal network performance.
- Assist with server
maintenance, system updates, and security protocols.
- Install and maintain network
cabling and communication infrastructure, including installations at
height when required.
- Monitor network
performance and proactively address potential failures.
- Maintain documentation
for network configurations, system changes, and troubleshooting
procedures.
- Work closely with
operational teams to ensure continuous IT service availability.
Minimum Requirements
- CCNA Certification
(Cisco Certified Network Associate) – Essential
- Diploma or Degree in Information
Technology, Networking, or related field
- Minimum 3–5 years of
IT support or network technician experience
- Strong experience with:
- Cisco networking
equipment
- LAN/WAN infrastructure
- Network troubleshooting
- Hardware and
workstation support
- Experience in industrial,
mining, telecom, or infrastructure environments is advantageous.
Additional Requirements
- Must be physically
fit and able to pass a fitness-to-work medical test
- Comfortable working
at heights when installing or maintaining network infrastructure
- Strong problem-solving
and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently
in remote operational environments
- Good communication and
documentation skills
Advantageous
- Experience working in Africa
or remote operational sites
- Certifications such as CompTIA
Network+, ITIL, or other Cisco certifications
- Experience with wireless
networks, fibre infrastructure, or radio communications
