IT Support
Summary
On-premise IT infrastructure and support role at a supply chain company: manage Windows/Linux servers, Active Directory, virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V/Proxmox), network and security, backup/DR with Veeam, and lead the IT support team from their Shah Alam office.
Responsibilities:
1. Infrastructure & Server Management
Configure, and maintain on-premise servers (Windows/Linux).
Manage Active Directory (AD), DNS, DHCP, Group Policy.
Maintain file servers, application servers, and database servers.
Plan and execute server upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management.
Implement and manage virtualization platforms (VMware / Hyper-V / Proxmox).
2. Network & Security
Configure and manage network infrastructure (firewall, switches, routers, VLAN).
Maintain VPN, remote access, and network segmentation.
Implement IT security policies, endpoint protection, and access control.
Monitor and respond to security incidents and vulnerabilities.
Manage backup & disaster recovery strategy (on-prem + offsite).
3. System Monitoring & Optimization
Monitor system performance (servers, network, storage).
Perform capacity planning and performance tuning.
Ensure high availability and system uptime.
4. IT Operations & Support Leadership
Lead and guide IT support team in daily operations.
Escalation point for complex technical issues.
Standardize IT processes, SOPs, and documentation.
Manage IT asset inventory and lifecycle.
Coordinate with vendors and external service providers.
5. End-User & Application Support
Oversee support for desktops, laptops, and enterprise applications.
Handle troubleshooting.
6. IT Governance & Compliance
Enforce IT policies, access control, and audit compliance.
Maintain documentation for systems, network diagrams, and configurations.
Support audits (internal/external).
7. Perform any other ad-hoc IT administrative activities as requested by HOD.
Requirements:
1. Possess a Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology/ Engineering or equivalent.
2. Minimum 3 years in IT Infrastructure/ system administration with hands-on in on-premise server management.
3. Technical Skills:
Windows Server
Active Directory, Group Policy
Virtualization (VMware / Hyper-V / Proxmox)
Network (TCP/IP, VLAN, Firewall, VPN)
Backup solutions (Veeam)
IT security & endpoint protection
4. Other Skills:
Scripting (PowerShell / Bash )
Monitoring tools (Zabbix/Grafana, etc.)
