IT System and Network Administrator

TYR Tactical is hiring an on-site System and Network Administrator in Peoria, AZ to maintain its multi-site enterprise network — administering Cisco routers/switches, firewalls, Windows/Linux Servers, Active Directory, and VMware/Hyper-V virtualization — while monitoring performance, strengthening security, and providing Level 2 IT support.
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced System and Network Administrator to support and maintain a reliable enterprise network in Peoria, Arizona. This IT position is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented and can manage core infrastructure, strengthen network security, and ensure stable connectivity across business operations. The role requires hands-on expertise with Cisco networking equipment, firewall platforms, Microsoft Windows Servers, and Active Directory in a fast-paced technical setting.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide training and guidance on infrastructure solutions and related topics to internal IT staff and end users
- Designs, analyzes, maintains, and implements LAN/WAN equipment, network, and telephony infrastructure, including maintenance of security measures and solutions • Administer and maintain network infrastructure, including Cisco routers, switching environments, and LAN connectivity to support daily operations
- Administer virtualization solutions, such as VMware ESXi and Microsoft Hyper-V • Support Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and identity management systems
- Monitor network performance, identify connectivity issues, and resolve disruptions to maintain consistent system availability
- Configure, manage, and optimize firewall technologies to protect systems and enforce network security standards
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and communication issues across the network and implement timely corrective actions
- Perform network updates, configuration changes, and infrastructure improvements while minimizing operational downtime
- Working knowledge of Windows, Linux Servers, Office 365, Active Directory administration, and access management
- Strong hands-on knowledge of Cisco routers, Cisco networking, and LAN environments • Familiarity with network documentation, maintenance processes, and operational best practices
- Support Multiple sites network infrastructure
- Provide Level 2 IT support, troubleshooting system and user issues
Qualifications:
- 5 or more years of experience as a network administrator
- Minimum of 3 years operational experience as a system administrator
- Extensive operational experience with IPsec VPN tunnel provisioning across multiple platforms
- Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, firewalls)
- Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and procedures in a dynamic manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity protocols
- Experience with DoD DFARS, NIST, and CMMC cybersecurity practice standards a plus
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be a team player with a proactive and adaptable approach
- Excellent communication and organizational skills ? Preferred Certifications: Cisco CCNA or Microsoft CompTIA
Working Environment:
- This role operates in a professional office environment within a high-activity manufacturing facility. It requires a balance between desktop IT operations and active, on-site operational oversight is required.
- Possible Travel to TYR Sites.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or IT Certifications
- Must be at least 18 years or older
- Previous experience in a manufacturing operations environment a plus.
