Job Overview

The IT Technician is responsible for maintaining essential IT operations, including operating systems, security tools, applications, servers, email systems, phones, laptops, desktops, software, and hardware. They will work with the IT Administrator and vendor partners to create and maintain a dependable and secure IT infrastructure and network.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Perform server administration tasks, including user/group administration, security permissions, group policies, print services, research event log warnings and errors, and resource monitoring, ensuring system architecture components work together seamlessly
  • Set up workstations with computers and necessary peripheral devices (routers, printers, etc.)
  • Maintain internal infrastructure requirements including, laptop and desktop computers, servers, routers, switches, firewalls, printers, phones, security updates, support internet, LANs, WANs, and network segments
  • Provide orientation and guidance to users on how to operate new software and computer equipment
  • Organize and schedule upgrades and maintenance without deterring others from completing their work
  • Perform troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve problems (repair or replace parts, debugging etc.)
  • Ensure security and privacy of networks and computer systems
  • Identify computer or network equipment shortages and place orders

Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in technology or computer science
  • Proven work experience as IT Technician or relevant position
  • In depth understanding of diverse computer systems and networks
  • Good knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles
  • Certification as IT Technician will be an advantage (e.g. CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional)
