Crain Automotive is seeking a knowledgeable, dependable, and proactive IT Technician to support our growing network of automotive dealerships. This position provides both onsite and remote technical support to dealership employees and assists with the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of computers, networks, software, phones, printers, and other technology systems.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver who enjoys working with both people and technology. Automotive dealership experience is a plus, but we are primarily looking for someone with strong technical fundamentals, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
Responsibilities
- Provide onsite and remote technical support for desktops, laptops, printers, phones, mobile devices, and dealership-specific hardware
- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows workstations, applications, and peripherals
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, connectivity, and network-related issues
- Create and maintain user accounts, permissions, and system access
- Support dealership DMS, CRM, and other business applications
- Assist with network equipment, wireless connectivity, and basic network troubleshooting
- Document, track, and resolve support requests through the IT ticketing system
- Maintain accurate IT documentation, procedures, equipment records, and inventory
- Assist with hardware deployments, equipment upgrades, technology projects, and system audits
- Work with third-party vendors and support providers when necessary to resolve technical issues
- Travel to dealership locations as needed to provide onsite support
- Perform other technology-related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of IT support, help desk, desktop support, or related technical experience
- Strong working knowledge of Windows operating systems and PC hardware
- Basic understanding of TCP/IP networking, Wi-Fi, DHCP, DNS, and network troubleshooting
- Experience with Microsoft 365, user administration, and remote support tools preferred
- Familiarity with automotive dealership systems such as Reynolds & Reynolds, CDK, Dealertrack, or similar platforms is a plus
- Ability to diagnose and resolve hardware and software problems efficiently
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-service mindset
- Self-motivated, organized, dependable, and able to work independently
- Ability to prioritize multiple support requests in a fast-paced environment
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel between dealership locations as needed
