Location: Wiltshire

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Contract: Permanent, full time, 52 weeks per year

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Start date: ASAP

A technical role where every day is different Do you enjoy solving complex technical puzzles, supporting teachers and pupils, and taking pride in keeping a busy educational environment running smoothly?

We are looking for a reliable and experienced School IT Support Technician to join our ICT Team. This hands-on role will suit someone who enjoys variety, uses their initiative and is happy turning their skills to whatever tech challenge the day brings across our classrooms and offices.

One day you might troubleshoot a classroom interactive whiteboard, set up new devices for a computer suite or resolve a network issue. The next could involve preparing laptops for students, managing user accounts or assisting staff with digital learning tools.

You will help keep the school’s digital infrastructure, hardware and software secure, accessible and well-maintained for pupils, staff and visitors.

About the role You will carry out first- and second-line IT support across the school sites, including hardware repairs, software installation, network troubleshooting, user account management and classroom tech support.

You will also support device rollouts, system maintenance, asset tracking and routine safeguarding compliance checks (such as web filtering and e-safety monitoring). Occasional out-of-hours support or maintenance windows may be required during school holidays, but these are infrequent and paid as overtime or given back as time off in lieu.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide responsive day-to-day IT support and troubleshooting for teachers, staff and students

  • Diagnose hardware, software and network faults in classrooms and offices

  • Set up, configure and deploy computers, laptops, iPads, and interactive display screens

  • Manage user accounts, permissions and access controls across school systems

  • Maintain inventory records and track school IT hardware and software assets

  • Support audio-visual equipment for assemblies, school productions and parent evenings

  • Assist with routine safeguarding filter checks and data backups

  • Log, update and track support tickets using a school helpdesk system

About you You may have worked in educational IT support, school technical services, or corporate helpdesk environments. Previous experience working in a school or educational setting would be useful, but it is not essential.

You will need practical technical experience, good judgement and the ability to prioritise urgent technical issues that impact teaching and learning.

You will also bring:

  • A positive, patient, and helpful approach when working with children and educators

  • Good organisation and time management during busy term times

  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • A polite and professional manner

  • The technical aptitude to quickly learn and adapt to specialist educational software and hardware

  • A full, clean UK driving licence

Relevant IT certifications or a computing qualification would be useful, but are not essential.

What we offer:

  • A permanent Monday to Friday role

  • A good pension scheme

  • Free parking on site

  • Uniform and equipment provided

  • Meals and refreshments during the school day when the kitchen is operating

  • Death in service cover and personal accident insurance

  • School fee concession, subject to qualifying conditions

  • Regular professional development and training opportunities

  • Overtime or time off in lieu for occasional out-of-hours work

  • Varied work with visible results in an educational community

  • Supportive colleagues and a positive working environment

  • The chance to become a valued member of the ICT Team

What Happens After You Apply? Applications will be received and reviewed as soon as they are submitted. A member of the recruitment team will contact suitable candidates to discuss their experience and interest in the role.
