Java API Developer, Assistant Vice President
As a Java API Developer in State Street’s Digital Asset team, you will design, build, and operate secure API services powering custody, tokenization, settlement, and related digital asset workflows. You will collaborate with product, architecture, and security to deliver scalable back-end APIs and integration points within a centralized platform. You’ll focus on secure, compliant API contracts, observability, and high-availability for regulated environments. This is a hands-on role that combines engineering excellence with cross-team collaboration to advance digital asset capabilities.

- Design, develop, and maintain Java backend services and REST APIs for digital asset product flows
- Build API services integrated through an Integration Hub and secure gateways
- Define and enforce API contracts, versioning, and documentation per internal standards
- Collaborate with product, architecture, and security to implement policy-aware integration patterns
- Contribute to data interfaces and event streams for reporting, analytics, and workflows
- Unit and integration testing with strong quality gates; ensure production readiness and observability
- Triage incidents, tune performance, and improve resilience in a regulated, high-availability environment
- Coordinate with multi-location teams to align API contracts with traditional platforms (custody, cash, fund accounting)
- Strong experience building Java backend APIs (REST) in financial services or related domains
- Hands-on expertise with Spring Boot and common Spring components (web, security, data access)
- Experience deploying and operating containerized Java microservices on Kubernetes (AKS)
- Relational databases experience (Oracle) and ORM/data access patterns
- Designing API contracts with versioning, backward compatibility, and documentation
- Security-first API engineering in regulated environments (authn/authz, secure integrations)
