Java API Engineer

Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced API Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in Java development, API Gateway management, microservices architecture and DevOps practices.

The ideal candidate should have practical experience in designing and managing API integrations, configuring API Gateways, developing microservices-based applications, and automating software delivery through CI/CD pipelines.

The candidate should also possess strong experience in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, containerization using Docker, and container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes or AWS ECS

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop and maintain scalable APIs and backend services using Java.
• Configure, manage and maintain API Gateways, preferably AWS API Gateway.
• Implement API integrations and microservices communication patterns.
• Design, develop and manage CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and lifecycle management using Terraform.
• Write clean, modular and reusable Terraform scripts following Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices.
• Work with Docker for application containerization.
• Manage and deploy containerized applications using Kubernetes or AWS ECS.
• Collaborate with development and operations teams to streamline application delivery and deployment.
• Troubleshoot issues related to APIs, microservices, infrastructure and application deployments.

Mandatory Technical Skills:

• Strong hands-on experience in Java Development.
• Experience configuring and managing API Gateways, preferably AWS API Gateway.
• Strong understanding of Microservices Architecture and microservices communication patterns.
• Hands-on experience developing and managing Jenkins CI/CD Pipelines.
• Practical experience writing modular Terraform scripts and managing infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Experience with Docker and application containerization.
• Experience with container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes or AWS ECS

Desired Candidate Profile

• 8 to 10 years of overall IT experience.
• Strong programming and development skills in Java.
• Practical experience in API engineering and API Gateway configuration.
• Good understanding of microservices architecture and communication mechanisms.
• Hands-on DevOps experience with Jenkins and Terraform.
• Experience working with Docker and Kubernetes/AWS ECS.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
