Java Architect- Payment Domain

Summary

Lead the design and implementation of enterprise payment systems using Java, Spring Boot, and cloud-native architectures for high-volume financial transactions.

We are seeking an experienced Payment Architecture -Java to lead the design and implementation of enterprise payment solutions. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Java technologies, distributed systems, and payment processing platforms, with experience designing scalable, secure, and high-availability applications for banking or financial services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and architect enterprise payment applications using Java and Spring Boot.
  • Define end-to-end architecture for payment processing, transaction management, settlement, reconciliation, and reporting.
  • Design scalable, cloud‑ready microservices and event‑driven architectures for high‑volume payment systems.
  • Collaborate with business, product, engineering, and infrastructure teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Define API and integration architecture for enterprise payment systems and internal banking platforms.
  • Ensure solutions meet requirements for scalability, security, resilience, performance, and availability.
  • Lead architecture reviews, technical design discussions, and technology selection.
  • Create architecture documentation, including High-Level Design (HLD), Low-Level Design (LLD), sequence diagrams, and integration specifications.
  • Drive best practices for software architecture, coding standards, CI/CD, and DevSecOps.
  • Mentor engineering teams and provide technical leadership throughout the software development lifecycle.

Required Technical Skills

  • 10+ years of experience in Java application development and architecture.
  • Strong expertise in Java 17/21 (or later).
  • Hands‑on experience with Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Spring Security, and Hibernate/JPA.
  • Strong understanding of object‑oriented design, design patterns, and clean architecture principles.
  • Experience with RESTful APIs, asynchronous processing, and multithreading.
  • Proficiency with Maven or Gradle.

Payment Domain

  • Strong understanding of enterprise payment systems and transaction processing.
  • Experience with payment lifecycle, including transaction initiation, validation, settlement, reconciliation, and exception handling.
  • Knowledge of payment messaging standards such as ISO 8583 and ISO 20022.
  • Experience working with domestic and international payment systems such as UPI, IMPS, NEFT, RTGS, SWIFT, ACH, or SEPA.
  • Familiarity with payment operations, financial messaging, and transaction monitoring.

Architecture & Cloud

  • Microservices and event‑driven architecture.
  • Kafka or similar messaging platforms.
  • Docker and Kubernetes.
  • AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices.

Databases

  • PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL, or SQL Server.
  • NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Redis.
  • Database performance optimization and scalability.

Security

  • Secure application design and secure coding practices.
  • OAuth 2.0, JWT, TLS/SSL.
  • Encryption, key management, and application security.
  • Understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements relevant to financial systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 10–15 years of experience in software engineering, with at least 4–5 years in solution architecture.
  • Experience in banking, financial services, or enterprise payment platforms.
  • Cloud and architecture certifications are an added advantage.

Preferred Experience

  • Core banking payment platforms.
  • High‑volume transaction processing systems.
  • Enterprise integration and messaging.
  • Domain‑Driven Design (DDD).
  • Observability and monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or OpenTelemetry.
  • Strong solution architecture and system design expertise.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to lead technical discussions and influence architectural decisions.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working in Agile environments and leading cross‑functional teams.
