Java Backend Developer- 2-3 years exp
Summary
Builds and maintains Java/Spring Boot backend services and RESTful microservices with a PostgreSQL database in an Agile team based in Kuala Lumpur. Day to day involves API development, schema design and tuning, code reviews, debugging, and collaborating with frontend, QA, and DevOps.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot
Build and consume RESTful APIs for seamless system integration
Develop scalable microservices-based applications
Design and optimize database schemas using PostgreSQL
Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code following best practices
Perform code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards
Troubleshoot, debug, and enhance existing applications
Collaborate with frontend developers, QA teams, and DevOps for end-to-end delivery
Implement security and data protection measures
Participate in Agile ceremonies (Sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives)
Required Skills & Qualifications
Strong hands-on experience in Java (JDK 8 or above)
Proven experience with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and Spring Data JPA
Solid experience working with PostgreSQL (query optimization, indexing, performance tuning)
Experience in building RESTful APIs and microservices
Understanding of ORM frameworks like Hibernate
Familiarity with version control tools (Git)
Knowledge of containerization tools (Docker) is a plus
Experience with messaging systems (Kafka/RabbitMQ) is an advantage
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
Exposure to CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, etc.)
