Java Backend Developer
As a Junior Java Developer, you will work closely with senior engineers to implement new features, write test suites, debug backend services, and maintain our core application APIs. This is a high-growth opportunity where you will receive active mentorship, code reviews, and structured training in enterprise technologies like Spring Boot, cloud-native deployments, and distributed systems.
Key Responsibilities
Software Development & Maintenance
- Feature Implementation: Write clean, readable Java code to implement backend features and API endpoints based on technical specifications.
- Bug Fixing: Assist in troubleshooting, debugging, and resolving application bugs in non-production and production environments.
- Code Maintenance: Refactor and optimize existing code to improve maintainability and adherence to coding standards.
Quality Assurance & Testing
- Unit Testing: Write comprehensive unit and integration tests using JUnit and Mockito to maintain high test coverage.
- Code Quality: Participate in code reviews, receiving constructive feedback from senior peers to continuously improve code standards.
Platform & DevOps Exposure
- Database Basics: Write and optimize basic SQL queries, schema updates, and work with object-relational mapping (ORM) frameworks like Hibernate.
- CI/CD Awareness: Learn to use Git for version control, merge requests, and monitor builds through automatic CI/CD deployment pipelines.
Collaboration & Growth
- Agile Participation: Attend and participate in daily standups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
- Continuous Learning: Dedicate time to understanding design patterns, system architecture, and new backend methodologies under the guidance of a senior mentor.
Required Technical Skills & Qualifications
Core Requirements (Must-Have)
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent self-taught/bootcamp portfolio showing strong foundational knowledge).
- Core Java: Solid understanding of Core Java (version 11 or higher), including Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts, Collections API, Exception Handling, and basic Multithreading.
- Databases: Foundational knowledge of Relational Databases (SQL) and basic query writing (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle).
- Version Control: Familiarity with Git workflows (cloning, branching, committing, pushing, and creating pull requests).
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
- Familiarity with the Spring Ecosystem (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data).
- Basic understanding of RESTful API design principles.
- Familiarity with Maven or Gradle build tools.
- Awareness of containerization concepts (Docker) or cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Experience writing unit tests with JUnit.
