Java Backend Engineer
Summary
Build AI-powered HR tools using Java, Spring Boot, and microservices on Azure, with Kafka and Cosmos DB for data streaming and storage.
We are looking for a Backend Engineer to design, develop, and continuously improve intelligent digital products and services that support employees and HR stakeholders, with AI at the core. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Java backend development, cloud technologies, and modern engineering practices, with a focus on building secure, scalable, and observable applications.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and continuously enhance intelligent digital products and services with AI-driven capabilities.
- Apply modern software engineering practices, including requirements analysis, feature development, automated testing, CI/CD, deployment, and observability.
- Ensure solutions meet quality, security, reliability, scalability, and compliance standards by implementing both functional and non-functional requirements.
- Build observability into applications, monitor production environments, troubleshoot incidents, and address root causes proactively.
- Advocate for end-user and stakeholder needs by developing AI solutions that are ethical, explainable, and human-centric.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and engineering teams in an Agile environment.
- Share knowledge, contribute to hiring and onboarding initiatives, and foster a collaborative engineering culture.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot.
- Experience with Spring Batch and Spring Cloud.
- Proven expertise in designing and developing microservices.
API Development
- Strong experience designing and developing REST APIs.
- Proficiency in GraphQL schema design.
Data & Integration
- Experience with NoSQL databases and data modelling (e.g., Azure Cosmos DB).
- Experience with data streaming platforms, preferably Confluent Kafka.
- Good understanding of authentication and authorization protocols, including:
