Java Data Engineer – Hedge Fund

Overview

In this role you will contribute to a leading quant hedge fund's execution technology, building and evolving the in-house EMS and execution capabilities. You will collaborate closely with the Trading Desk and Research to design software that enhances cross-asset execution across FX and commodities. The position offers exposure to high-performance, low-latency systems in a stimulating, tech-forward environment. You will help scale and expand the platform into new markets and asset classes while delivering impactful solutions. This is a unique opportunity to apply advanced Java and data skills to drive measurable trading outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and evolve the firm's bespoke multi-asset Execution Management System (EMS) and in-house execution capabilities
  • Work on order routing systems, execution algos, and connectivity to venues and brokers
  • Integrate market data feeds and multi-dealer execution systems for OTC assets
  • Collaborate with Trading Desk and Research to design and deliver software solutions
  • Support expansion into new markets, strategies, asset classes and regions
  • Contribute to next-gen EMS initiatives and enhancements
  • Ensure high-performance, scalable Java-based solutions in a relaxed, fast-paced environment
Key requirements
  • PhD in Mathematics/ Physics or Engineering with strong mathematical background
  • Financial services experience in IB, vendor, fintech or fund
