My client is seeking an experienced Java Developer to support the delivery of business-critical application development projects in a structured enterprise environment.
This role will suit someone with strong Java development experience, good database knowledge, and the ability to work across technical and business-facing teams. The successful candidate will be involved in new development, enhancements, testing support, issue resolution, and release activity.
The Role
You will be responsible for:
- Developing new application features and enhancements
- Working from technical specifications, functional requirements, and user stories
- Producing estimates for assigned development workWriting clean, maintainable code in line with agreed standards
- Supporting unit testing, integration testing, and defect resolution
- Working closely with testers, analysts, developers, and project stakeholders
- Supporting system testing and release activity
- Investigating issues and providing fixes where required
- Updating project tracking tools such as Jira
- Participating in code reviews and knowledge sharing
- Supporting junior team members where required
Key Skills Required
- Experience with Spring and/or Hibernate
- Practical experience working with containerized applications - Docker/Kubernetes
- Strong knowledge of SQL and relational databases
- Experience working with Web Services
- Familiarity with structured data formats such as XML and JSON
- Unit and integration testing experience, ideally with JUnit
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Angular or AngularJS
- Mule or other integration technologies
- ETL experience
- WebLogic or similar application servers
- Experience with NoSQL or big data frameworks
- Experience with legacy systems or mixed technology environments
- Experience working in highly regulated, structured, or public-sector environments
- Exposure to Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery models
