Java Developer

BGTS International is looking for a Java Developer to join our team supporting a global client project in Ovar, Portugal.

You’ll work on both backend services and desktop applications, building and maintaining solutions using Java, Spring Boot, JavaFX, and Java Swing, while contributing to system integrations and application security.

Who you are

You’re a hands-on Java Developer with 3–5 years of professional experience who enjoys solving technical challenges and working across different application layers.

You have strong Core Java fundamentals and are comfortable working with both modern backend technologies and existing desktop applications. You’re analytical, collaborative, and able to work effectively in an Agile environment.

Key responsibilities

• Backend Development: Design and develop backend services using Java and Spring Boot, including business logic and REST/SOAP services.
  
• Desktop Applications: Develop and maintain applications using JavaFX and Java Swing.
  
• System Integration: Integrate applications with internal and external systems through APIs, messaging, and middleware.
  
• Code Quality: Write clean, maintainable code, perform unit testing, and participate in code reviews.
  
• Security: Implement authentication, authorization, and secure communication across applications and services.
  
• DevOps: Support application builds and deployments through CI/CD tools.
  
• Collaboration: Work with business teams, analysts, and developers in an Agile environment.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of professional Java development experience.
  
• Strong Core Java and object-oriented programming skills.
  
• Good experience with Spring Boot / Spring Framework and REST services.
  
• Hands-on experience with JavaFX and/or Java Swing.
  
• Experience developing or consuming REST & SOAP web services.
  
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
  
• Understanding of application security, APIs, and system integration.
  
• Good communication and collaboration skills.
  
• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Software Development, or a related field.
  
• Willingness to travel occasionally (approximately 10%).
