Summary

Senior Java contractor building new features on a five-year-old Spring Boot backend for an FX trading and international payments application used by Barclays' B2B clients. Day to day: backend development, code reviews, and test automation, collaborating with teams in London and Pune; hybrid role based in Prague (Pankrác).

Required:

  • Experience with building Java Spring Boot backend applications.
  • Experience with JDBC, messaging middleware and REST APIs.
  • Able to review other colleagues’ code.
  • Willing to deliver not just application changes, but also design and implement test automation. The aim is not to rely on manual testing.
  • Their English needs to be fluent enough to be able to participate in phone / Teams calls without issues.

Other:

  • Experience with deploying applications into Kubernetes, Openshift or other cloud is a plus.
  • Linux scripting experience is a plus.
  • Experience with the domain – FX trading and SWIFT payments is a plus.

About the project:

  • It is not a green field project, the application has been around for about five years.
  • New features are being developed continuously, it is not a maintenance role.
  • The domain is FX and international payments. The application is used internally and by Barclays’ B2B clients (not end-users).
  • The application is developed in Prague, but we work with teams both in London and Pune. Most of the stakeholders are based in London.
