Java Developer – Senior

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Java Developer to join an established development team based in Honeydew, Randburg.

The role requires a strong hands-on developer with extensive commercial experience in Java, Spring Boot, microservices and Kubernetes, who is comfortable working on complex enterprise applications and taking technical ownership from development through to production.

Previous telecommunications / telco experience will be highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain enterprise Java applications and backend services.
• Build scalable solutions using Java, Spring Boot and microservices.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and complex system integrations.
• Deploy and support containerised applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Participate in solution design and architecture discussions.
• Troubleshoot complex application and production issues.
• Conduct code reviews and maintain strong development standards.
• Support CI/CD, deployments and production environments.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other developers.
• Work closely with technical and business stakeholders throughout the SDLC.

Minimum Requirements

• Strong senior-level commercial Java development experience.
• Extensive hands-on Spring Boot experience.
• Strong microservices architecture and development experience.
• Practical production experience with Kubernetes.
• RESTful APIs and complex integrations.
• Relational databases and strong SQL skills.
• Git/source control.
• CI/CD and modern DevOps practices.
• Docker/containerisation.
• Agile/Scrum development experience.
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting and production-support capability.
• Experience with solution design, code reviews and technical decision-making.
• Ability to mentor and guide less experienced developers.
• Must be willing to work office-based in Honeydew, Randburg.
