Java Engineer – Systematic Hedge Fund

In this role you will help build a brand-new greenfield trading platform for a London-based hedge fund. You will work closely with the Head of Trading and the Execution Technology Team to design and develop Java-based trading algorithms, delivering high-throughput, distributed systems for cross-asset trading. The position offers exposure to high-frequency trading and a flat, collaborative environment with fast decision-making. You’ll contribute to both front- and back-office integration, driving impactful, technically challenging solutions.

• Collaborate with traders and the Execution Technology Team to design and develop new trading algorithms in Java
• Build a greenfield trading platform from the ground up
• Design high-throughput, distributed trading systems
• Maintain and enhance existing trading strategies
• Develop utility applications and tools to support trading activities
• Engage with traders to understand requirements and resolve issues
• Develop back-office integration with the front office

• Commercial Java development experience (Java preferred; C++ considered)
• Solid knowledge of core Java
• SQL proficiency
• Experience in a trading vendor, hedge fund, or bank environment
• Computer Science or Machine Learning degree (BSc/MSc/PhD from a top 40 university)
