Java/Kotlin Software Engineer – AVP - (Developer Enablement)

Overview

In this role you will be a delivery-focused backend engineer within Citi's CTO’s Developer Enablement team, building internal tools and platforms for thousands of engineers. You’ll contribute to strategic initiatives like SDLC Automation and Release on Demand, shaping architecture and driving automation. You’ll work with cross‑functional partners across time zones and countries to improve development productivity at scale. This is a hands-on, tech‑driven role in a fast-moving, startup-like culture inside a global bank.

Responsibilities
  • Write and deliver high-quality backend code regularly
  • Shape architectural direction and contribute to technical roadmaps
  • Lead and participate in code reviews, unblock teammates, and share knowledge
  • Stay current with GenAI advances and apply new ideas to products
  • Collaborate with product, design, and platform teams across multiple time zones
  • Support scalable, production-grade services and observability practices
  • Engage in efficient communication to coordinate with distributed teams
Key requirements
  • Proven experience delivering within technical projects
  • Hands-on experience building and running production-grade services
  • Strong server-side skills in Kotlin or Java (Java 21) and RESTful APIs
  • Relational and/or NoSQL databases (Couchbase, PostgreSQL or MongoDB)
