Overview
In this role you will build and enhance Java-based systems used across research and trading, extending a scalable, low-latency platform. You will work closely with research, systems and operations teams to turn requirements into reliable software that supports new markets and capabilities. You’ll focus on performance, reliability and distributed components while improving monitoring and interaction between services. This is a hands-on position in a high-performance trading environment offering ownership across infrastructure and production systems.
Responsibilities- Build and improve Java-based systems used in trading and research
- Extend core research infrastructure and distributed platform components
- Design scalable storage and data systems with strong reliability requirements
- Improve performance across internal software, open-source tools and Linux environments
- Implement monitoring, alerting and proactive detection for production systems
- Improve inter-service communication for lower latency and higher throughput
- Analyze data to support platform decisions and capacity planning
- Collaborate with research, systems and operations to turn tech requirements into working software
- Review code and contribute to engineering standards across the team
- Strong Java engineering experience with debugging and refactoring skills
- Solid computer science fundamentals (algorithms, data structures, systems design)
- Experience building scalable, automated, maintainable software with strong testing discipline
- Comfort working across stack levels from machines to distributed systems
- Good understanding of networking, storage and performance trade-offs
- Interest in high-performance systems and problem solving
- Low-ego, able to work independently and collaboratively
- Linux experience is useful
- C++ knowledge is useful
- Trading experience is useful but not required
