Java Software Engineer Consultant (12-month contract)

We are seeking a Java Software Engineer to join a focused, energetic, and dedicated team developing Collateral Management solution application. In this role, you will be responsible for technical design, implementation, and delivery of quality code, while contributing to new features aligned to the product roadmap and supporting multiple deployment models for a growing customer base. This position is offered as a 12-month fixed-term contract, with the possibility of an extension.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical design, implementation, and delivery of high-quality code for the Collateral Management solution.
  • Develop new features aligned to the product roadmap for the application.
  • Support multiple deployment models for a growing customer base.
  • Ensure application performance metrics are achieved and support reliable, efficient application delivery.
  • Maintain high standards of code quality and apply thoughtful application design across development activities.
  • Work within Agile development methodologies to deliver iterative, high-value outcomes.
  • Help drive process changes, continuous improvement, and team-level enhancements across the development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with teammates and clients in a constructive and inclusive manner, contributing ideas to improve designs, code, tools, and ways of working.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of professional experience in software engineering or application development.
  • Java 8+
  • Spring & Spring Boot
  • Experience integrating AI assistants into daily workflows to streamline software development
  • Hibernate
  • RESTful APIs
  • Docker
  • TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, SASS and related technologies
  • Experience with Git, GitHub, Maven, AWS, and one or more major RDBMS, preferably Oracle.
  • Knowledge of unit and integration testing methodologies for efficient, comprehensive validation.
  • Familiarity and hands-on experience with Agile methodologies, as well as client-facing experience.
  • Relevant third-level degree or professional qualification, with a high standard of English.

Desirable

  • Experience in banking and associated financial industries
  • Knowledge of or experience with Linux, cloud development, React, Kubernetes, Helm, Ansible, Spring Security, GraphQL, and PostgreSQL.
