About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Java Software Engineer to contribute to a range of high-impact projects within a complex and fast-paced technology environment. You will work with established platforms and infrastructure while helping to shape new solutions, collaborating closely with stakeholders and engineering teams to deliver business value.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain full-stack applications across front-end and back-end systems


• Build scalable software solutions using Java and Perl technologies


• Develop modern user interfaces using React and related front-end technologies


• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver features from concept through to production


• Utilise AI-assisted development tools and practices throughout the software development lifecycle


• Contribute to architecture discussions, technical design and code reviews


• Integrate new functionality with existing platforms and services


• Troubleshoot, optimise and enhance application performance and reliability


• Work independently on assigned projects while maintaining strong communication with stakeholders


• Support continuous improvement initiatives and engineering best practices

Desired Skills and Experience

• Strong commercial experience as a Full Stack Developer


• Proven expertise with Java development


• Experience working with Perl or willingness to learn and work within Perl-based environments


• Strong React development experience or experience with modern front-end frameworks


• Knowledge of AI-assisted software development tools and workflows


• Familiarity with code reviews, testing, CI/CD and modern engineering practices


• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills


• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently


• Experience working within large-scale technology environments is advantageous


• Exposure to distributed systems, APIs and platform integrations is beneficial

Summary of the Best Candidate

The ideal candidate will be a mid-level to senior Full Stack Developer with at least five years of commercial software engineering experience. They will possess strong back-end development expertise, alongside modern front-end development skills, and be comfortable working across the full software development lifecycle.

The strongest applicants will have experience with Java, React and AI-assisted development practices.
