Summary
Contract Java Developer role (via recruitment consultancy HOK) in Sheffield, hybrid ~2 days/week on-site, on an application modernisation project in a large enterprise. Day to day: building Java 11+ microservices and REST APIs, working with Neo4j and PostgreSQL, some Angular frontend, and automated testing in an Agile CI/CD environment.
Role: Java Developer (Neo4j experience must)
Location: Sheffield (Hybrid: approx. 2 days per week in the office)
Terms: Long-Term Contract

We are looking for an experienced Java Developer to join a team working on an exciting application modernisation and re-platforming project within a large enterprise environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Java 11+ backend applications, APIs and microservices.
- Design and build RESTful APIs and scalable services.
- Support some frontend development using Angular, HTML5 and JavaScript.
- Work with Neo4j and PostgreSQL databases.
- Develop automated tests using JUnit, Mockito and Cucumber.
- Work within an Agile CI/CD environment, contributing to peer reviews and automated testing.
Key Skills & Experience
- Strong commercial experience with Java 11+.
- Experience building microservices and REST APIs.
- Experience with Angular/JavaScript and modern web applications.
- Knowledge of Neo4j or other graph databases is desirable.
- Experience upgrading dependencies and addressing security vulnerabilities/dependency conflicts.
