Java Support Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Work actively with team members to analyze and resolve application issues.
• Identify defects, discrepancies, and trends by code debugging or log analysis.
• Manage incidents and communicate effectively with users, application owners, and senior stakeholders across all areas.
• Improve application stability and performance by observing patterns, recurring failures, and advising application owners on permanent fixes.
• Adopt engineering tools to automate failures using machine learning and notify discrepancies in production health and restoration.
• Identify alerts or processes that can be automated and collaborate with the engineering team to automate them.
• Challenge existing application setup and processing, suggesting alternative solutions to improve stability.
• Participate in change‑management processes to manage risk in production environments.
• Build and improve run books for generalists to minimize operational errors and increase fungibility/efficiency.
• Develop reports that provide trending statistics to track and manage application health and support service performance.
• Be willing to learn and troubleshoot/support proprietary technologies not available through the marketplace (no prior knowledge required).

Minimum Educational and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or equivalent) and software development experience.

Required Skills and Licenses

• Data Structures concepts applied in practical use cases.
• Problem‑solving in a development or production environment, including pattern observation, root‑cause analysis, and solution proposals.
• Good communication skills to articulate technical and functional aspects of production problems to app dev teams and senior stakeholders.
• Proficiency in one of the following structured or object‑oriented programming languages: Java.
• Experience with SQL.
• Experience on Linux/Unix.

Good to Have Skills

• Experience in the financial services industry.
• Experience in cluster computing and big‑data solutions (Spark, Hadoop, HDFS, XRS) using public cloud.
