Java Team Lead (Contractual)

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Java Team Lead with a minimum of 12 years of experience in Java development and enterprise application development. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading the technical team, overseeing end-to-end development activities, ensuring high-quality code delivery and driving technical decisions. The candidate should have strong hands-on expertise in Java technologies along with proven experience in managing development teams and delivering scalable applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of Java developers, ensuring timely and quality delivery of projects.
• Drive technical architecture, application design and development decisions.
• Oversee end-to-end software development lifecycle (SDLC), including requirement analysis, development, testing, deployment and maintenance.
• Provide technical guidance, code reviews and mentorship to team members.
• Design and develop scalable, high-performance and secure enterprise applications.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Business Analysts, QA and other stakeholders to understand project requirements.
• Identify technical challenges, troubleshoot complex issues and implement effective solutions.
• Ensure adherence to coding standards, development best practices and software quality guidelines.
• Manage sprint planning, task allocation, estimations and delivery timelines.
• Monitor team performance and ensure project milestones are achieved.
• Drive continuous improvement in development processes, code quality and technical practices.

Required Technical Skills

• Strong hands-on experience in Java, J2EE and Object-Oriented Programming (OOPs).
• Expertise in Spring Framework, Spring Boot, Spring MVC and Hibernate/JPA.
• Strong understanding of Microservices Architecture and RESTful API development.
• Experience with databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL or Oracle.
• Good knowledge of Java application servers and enterprise application development.
• Experience with messaging technologies such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, Git, Maven/Gradle and DevOps practices.
• Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes and containerisation will be an added advantage.
• Strong understanding of application security, performance optimisation and system design.

• Minimum 12 years of overall experience in Java development.
• Proven experience in leading and managing Java development teams.
• Strong hands-on technical expertise with the ability to contribute to complex development activities.
• Experience in enterprise-level application development and architecture.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical and debugging skills.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management and team leadership capabilities.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Engagement Details

• This is a contractual engagement.
• The candidate should be comfortable working in a contract-based arrangement.
• Immediate or short-notice joiners would be preferred.
• Compensation will be based on experience, technical expertise and contractual terms.
