Job Description:

The Team:

Unlike many companies that make test specifications and then let suppliers build production testers, Tesla develops majority of its testing technologies in house. Manufacturing test team is a group of enthusiastic engineers and technicians that develop the most complex and advanced testing solutions for Tesla’s core products including vehicle batteries, charging and energy storage products. We are heavily relied upon by many other teams to ensure Tesla products are fully tested and meet the highest standard of quality before reaching customers’ hands. Our tester fleet scales up rapidly while Tesla’s production volume ramps up. We are looking for a mechanical engineer who is passionate about Tesla’s vision by developing highly advanced and aggressively efficient testing solutions.

Responsibilities:

· Establish clear, concise tester fixture requirements.

· Design and review high-level and detailed-level CAD models of test equipment.

· Layout electrical/pneumatic/hydraulic schematics.

· Support existing testers troubleshooting, identifying root cause and solutions.

· Continuous design improvements to existing testers.

· Work closely with electrical and test engineers to determine system architecture.

· Lead equipment conceptual development and carefully balance process requirements, cycle time, cost, and technical risk.

· Host and attend design review meetings.

· Support build, debug, validate, and fine-tune equipment for release to production.

· Training to technicians and operators.

· Interact with cross-team, design, manufacturing, sustaining throughout the project.

Requirements:

· Bachelor’s degree or higher in ME or related majors.

· Proficiency with design process integration and electromechanical systems.

· Demonstrated excellence in a Manufacturing, or Testing environment.

· Familiar with a wide variety of test systems, production machinery, industrial sensors, and equipment(pogo-pins, sensors, drive system, pneumatic/hydraulic system).

· Versed in Solidworks, or similar 3D CAD software.

· Experience creating technical specifications for test equipment.

· Expertise in hydraulic system design is a plus.

· Knowledge of electronic system and testing device is a plus.

· Remain engaged, proactive and positive in tough circumstances, owning assignments and taking full accountability for overall team success.

· Good logic and analysis ability.

· Fluent written and spoken English
