Jira Process & Backlog Specialist

  • This is a full-time role (40 hours/week) for a 6-month contract
  • Formalize Jira processes by defining standardized protocols and guidelines for all ticket lifecycle stages and issue types
  • Establish best practices for field usage, descriptions, acceptance criteria, and formatting
  • Optimize workflows and status transitions to support agile processes at scale
  • Review and update existing backlog items to comply with new guidelines and standards
  • Clean up and standardize ticket content to improve data quality and usability
  • Identify and merge or archive duplicate or outdated tickets
  • Implement strategies to ensure accurate and consistent data in reporting fields
  • Configure dashboards, filters, and reports to provide actionable insights
  • Set up basic automation rules to streamline processes and improve efficiency
  • Create documentation and deliver training sessions on updated Jira protocols and best practices
  • Assist Product Owners and Scrum Masters in maintaining data quality and process consistency
  • 6+ years of professional experience
  • 3+ years of Jira process management, operations, or administration focused on process formalization and data quality
  • Experience with Jira Software (Cloud preferred) configuration, including issue types, workflows, fields, permissions, screens, dashboards
  • Proficiency with Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban) and configuring Jira to support them
  • Experience defining and driving adoption of Jira protocols and backlog grooming
  • Proficiency with creating and analyzing Jira reports and dashboards for insights
  • Strong analytical mindset with attention to data integrity and process optimization
  • Ability to collaborate across teams and drive alignment on best practices
  • Strong communication skills in both spoken and written English
  • Startup experience
  • Atlassian Jira certifications (ACP-JSW, ACP-JCA)
  • Experience with native Jira automation
  • Familiarity with Jira integrations (Confluence, GitHub)
  • Background in scaling or formalizing Jira in high-growth environments
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
