Job Title: Senior IT Platform Engineer (Fintech) Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior IT Platform Engineer to lead and oversee enterprise IT operations, cloud infrastructure, DevOps and DevSecOps practices, and software engineering platform enablement within a fast-growing fintech environment. The successful candidate will act as the technical authority responsible for building scalable, secure, and resilient platforms that support financial services operations, including the scaling of our Agency Banking Management System and Terminal Management System (TMS). This role requires deep expertise in high-availability systems, transaction processing environments, and secure digital payment infrastructure. Key Responsibilities 1. Platform Engineering & Architecture Design, implement, and maintain scalable, highly available, and secure platform infrastructure for fintech operations. Architect cloud-native and hybrid solutions across AWS, Azure, or GCP environments. Build and scale platforms supporting high-volume financial transactions, agency banking systems, and terminal management systems (TMS). Develop reusable infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM/Bicep. Standardize platform environments for development, staging, and production. Implement container orchestration solutions (Kubernetes, EKS, AKS, OpenShift). Define platform reliability, scalability, and observability standards aligned with financial service uptime requirements. 2. IT Operations Leadership Oversee day-to-day IT infrastructure operations including servers, cloud environments, and network systems supporting payment services. Ensure high system availability (99.9%+ uptime), performance optimization, and disaster recovery readiness. Lead incident management, root cause analysis (RCA), and resolution of production issues impacting financial transactions. Implement monitoring and alerting frameworks (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack). Define and manage RTO/RPO targets and business continuity strategies for critical fintech systems. Drive ITIL-based service management best practices. 3. DevOps & CI/CD Engineering Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps. Implement GitOps practices using tools like ArgoCD. Automate build, testing, and deployment pipelines across environments. Establish release management frameworks for fintech applications. Improve deployment frequency while maintaining system stability for transaction platforms. Promote infrastructure automation and configuration management. 4. DevSecOps & Security Integration Integrate security controls into CI/CD pipelines (SAST, DAST, dependency and container scanning). Ensure compliance with fintech regulatory and security standards (PCI-DSS, ISO 27001, NDPR, etc.). Implement secure key and secrets management (Vault, AWS Secrets Manager, Azure Key Vault). Enforce Zero Trust architecture principles across systems. Conduct vulnerability assessments and remediation tracking Safeguard sensitive financial data and transaction flows. 5. Software Engineering Oversight Provide technical leadership to software engineering teams building fintech products. Guide architecture decisions for agency banking platforms, wallet systems, and TMS solutions. Promote API-first, microservices, and event-driven architecture practices. Ensure performance, scalability, and reliability of applications handling financial transactions. Align engineering standards with platform and business strategy. 6. Agile & Delivery Governance Operate within Agile frameworks (Scrum, SAFe, Kanban). Collaborate with Product and Business teams to prioritize fintech platform enhancements. Support sprint planning, backlog grooming, and release cycles. Define and track engineering KPIs (deployment frequency, MTTR, lead time). Drive continuous improvement and DevOps maturity within the organisation. Facilitate cross-functional collaboration across engineering, operations, and security teams. 7. Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement Lead cross-functional engineering teams across IT Operations, DevOps, DevSecOps, and Software Engineering. Mentor and develop engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence. Communicate platform strategy and system performance to executive leadership. Manage vendor relationships (cloud providers, infrastructure partners, fintech integrations). Contribute to the company’s fintech technology strategy and digital transformation roadmap. Technical Requirements Infrastructure & Cloud Strong experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP Virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V) Networking (VPCs, VPNs, Load Balancers, DNS) Storage systems, backups, and disaster recovery High availability architectures for financial systems DevOps Tooling Git-based version control CI/CD pipelines Docker and Kubernetes Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM, CloudFormation) Configuration management (Ansible, Chef, Puppet) Monitoring & Observability Prometheus, Grafana ELK / EFK Stack Cloud-native monitoring tools Security IAM, RBAC Identity Federation, SSO Vulnerability scanning tools Security automation within CI/CD pipelines Programming/Scripting Bash, PowerShell, Python Familiarity with modern stacks (Node.js, Java, .NET, React) Experience & Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field 8–12+ years of experience across IT Infrastructure, DevOps, and Software Engineering 5+ years in a senior or leadership role Experience in fintech, banking, or payment systems is highly preferred Proven experience scaling transaction-based platforms and distributed systems Experience working in Agile environments Certifications (Preferred): AWS / Azure / GCP Architect Kubernetes (CKA/CKAD) ITIL CISSP or equivalent security certification Core Competencies Strong platform architecture and systems thinking Leadership and mentoring capability Analytical and problem-solving skills Risk management and compliance awareness (fintech-focused) Effective communication and stakeholder management Automation and continuous improvement mindset Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) System uptime and availability (99.9%+) Deployment frequency and release stability Mean Time to Recovery (MTTR) Change failure rate reduction Security vulnerability remediation timelines Infrastructure cost optimisation Scalability and performance of Agency Banking and TMS platforms DevOps maturity and automation improvements Interested candidates should kindly send their CVs to hr@swiftlink.ng
