Jr. Data Engineer

Summary

Junior Data Engineer monitors and validates data pipelines for a fintech company, ensuring completeness and schema compliance while assisting with documentation and incident triage.

Overview

Supports the Marketing Data Engineering function by executing routine data pipeline checks, validation, and operational tasks under defined scripts and runbooks. This role enables high reliability while freeing the onshore engineer to focus on architecture and tooling improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor scheduled data ingestion jobs (APIs, file feeds, raw sources)
  • Validate delivery completeness (e.g., state filings, third-party uploads)
  • Perform schema compliance checks and flag anomalies
  • Maintain pipeline documentation and assist with lineage tracking
  • Triage routine failures and incident escalation to onshore engineering

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical skills and basic SQL
  • Comfortable with data workflows and ETL monitoring
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow runbooks
  • Exposure to cloud data platforms a plus (e.g., Databricks)
