Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, optimize, and support mission-critical database environments across Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and PostgreSQL platforms. The successful candidate will ensure database performance, availability, security, integrity, and scalability while supporting enterprise applications and business operations.
This role requires deep technical expertise in database administration, performance tuning, backup and recovery, high availability, and database security. The DBA will work closely with application teams, infrastructure teams, architects, and business stakeholders to deliver robust and reliable database services.
Key Responsibilities
Database Administration & Operations
· Administer, maintain, and support Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL databases across production, test, and development environments.
· Perform database installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, migrations, and lifecycle management.
· Proactively monitor database health, capacity, availability, and performance.
· Ensure database services meet agreed service levels and operational requirements.
Performance & Optimization
· Analyze and resolve database performance issues using platform-native diagnostics and monitoring tools.
· Optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, indexing strategies, execution plans, and database configurations.
· Conduct performance assessments and recommend improvements for scalability, resilience, and efficiency.
· Implement tuning strategies for high-volume and business-critical enterprise workloads.
Backup, Recovery & High Availability
· Design, implement, and manage backup, restore, recovery, and retention strategies.
· Perform regular recovery testing and disaster recovery validation.
· Manage high availability, clustering, and replication technologies, including Oracle Data Guard and RAC, SQL Server Always On Availability Groups and Failover Clustering, and PostgreSQL streaming replication and high availability solutions.
Database Design & Development Support
· Collaborate with development teams on logical and physical database design, standards, and optimization.
· Participate in application deployments, release activities, and production readiness reviews.
· Review database changes and provide guidance on performance, supportability, and best practices.
· Support CI/CD initiatives and database automation.
Documentation & Governance
· Create and maintain database standards, operational procedures, and technical documentation.
· Develop runbooks, recovery procedures, support models, and architecture documentation.
· Participate in change management, incident management, problem management, and governance processes.
Qualifications
Essential
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
· 3+ years of database administration experience in enterprise environments.
· Strong hands-on administration experience across Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL.
· Proven experience supporting large-scale, highly available production database environments.
· Experience participating in on-call support, incident resolution, root-cause analysis, and service improvement.
Preferred Certifications
· Oracle Certified Professional (OCP).
