Junior AI & Automation Developer

Cadence Accountants & Advisors | Camberwell, Melbourne

Build real AI solutions. Automate real businesses. Learn alongside a growing AI & innovation function.

Cadence Accountants & Advisors is building a dedicated AI, Automation & Innovation capability, and we're looking for a Junior AI & Automation Developer to join us at an exciting stage of its development.

This isn't a traditional IT support role.

Working directly with our Head of AI, Automation & Innovation, you'll help design, build, test and maintain practical AI agents, automations, integrations and digital solutions that improve the way our people and clients work.

Initially, your focus will be on internal solutions across Cadence, with the opportunity to become involved in the development of AI and automation solutions for clients as our capability expands.

What you'll be doing

You'll work on real projects including:

  • Building AI agents, automations and workflows

  • Developing smaller applications and internal tools

  • Supporting larger AI and automation projects

  • Working with APIs and system integrations

  • Testing, debugging and improving existing solutions

  • Maintaining AI prompts, knowledge sources and configurations

  • Monitoring automated workflows and integrations

  • Documenting systems and development processes

  • Researching emerging AI technologies and finding practical ways to apply them

  • Increasingly designing and delivering your own solutions as your capability develops

Who we're looking for

We're more interested in ability and attitude than years of experience.

You might be a recent graduate, completing your studies, or have already started your career in software development, AI, automation or a related area.

You'll ideally have:

  • Strong logical and creative problem-solving ability

  • Some coding, scripting or software development experience

  • Genuine enthusiasm for AI and automation

  • An instinct for troubleshooting and figuring out why things don't work

  • Curiosity and a willingness to experiment and learn

  • Strong attention to detail

  • A structured approach to testing

  • The ability to communicate and document your work clearly

Experience with some of the technologies above is advantageous, but we don't expect you to know them all.

What matters most is that you can demonstrate that you're technically capable, curious and keen to learn quickly.

Why Cadence?

This is an opportunity to join an AI and automation function at the beginning of its growth, rather than stepping into a narrowly defined junior development role.

You'll work directly with the person leading our AI strategy, have exposure to projects from concept through to deployment, and see the impact your work has on a real professional services business.

As the capability grows, so will the complexity of the projects and the opportunity to develop your technical skills and take ownership of solutions.

If you're genuinely excited about where AI and automation are heading and want the opportunity to build things rather than just talk about them, we'd like to hear from you.
