Junior Analyst Trader
Our client is seeking a Junior Analyst Trader to join the Paarl, Western Cape Team
- Prepare and
distribute daily and weekly market updates in a timely manner
- Analyze
market, portfolio, and trading data, ensuring accuracy and reliability in all
reporting
- Monitor
market developments and identify potential trading opportunities, communicating
these effectively to relevant stakeholders
- Execute
trades accurately and in accordance with approved mandates and investment
strategies
- Process
trade instructions efficiently and within agreed turnaround times
- Ensure full
compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and internal controls
- Prepare and
submit accurate trade, portfolio, and performance reports within required
deadlines
- Maintain
complete, accurate, and up-to-date trade records and supporting documentation
- Oversee
trade settlement activities to ensure timely and accurate settlement of all
transactions
- Investigate
and resolve settlement discrepancies and exceptions within agreed service
levels
- Perform
regular reconciliations of trades, cash positions, and related accounts,
addressing any variances promptly
- Respond to
client, bank, custodian, and internal stakeholder queries in a professional and
timely manner
- Build and
maintain effective working relationships with clients, counterparties, and
internal teams
- Escalate
operational, trading, or settlement issues where necessary and proactively
manage communication to minimize risk
- Maintain
and enhance professional knowledge through the completion of required training,
certifications, and continuous learning initiatives
- Stay
informed of financial products, market trends, and industry developments to
support effective decision-making
- Contribute
to team development by actively participating in knowledge-sharing, process
improvement, and collaborative initiatives
Requirements
- Grade
12
- BCom
Finance / Economics preferred
- Experience
in banking, treasury, dealing desk, or foreign exchange operations
- Basic understanding of
global and local financial markets, with emphasis on foreign exchange (FX),
money markets, and related instruments
- Awareness of key
macroeconomic drivers (e.g., interest rates, inflation, GDP, balance of
payments) and how they affect currencies and markets
- Trading Concepts –
Foundational knowledge of order types, bid/ask spreads, market vs. limit
orders, and trade settlement processes
- Awareness of regulatory
requirements, anti-money laundering (AML) principles, and internal trading
policies
- Knowledge of Basic
calculations for exchange rates, spreads margins, and P&L
- Familiarity with Excel
(pivot tables, formulas, charts) and exposure to Bloomberg/Reuters or similar platforms
(advantageous)
- Knowledge of preparing
structured trade reports, reconciliations, and audit-compliant documentation
- Banking Processes –
Understanding of cross-border payments, SWIFT messages, and settlement
timelines
- Proficiency in MS Office
Suite and basic understanding of trading/treasury management systems
- Regulatory Examination
for Representatives (RE5) – FAIS Compliant
