Junior Architect
Summary
Junior Architect supports senior architects in designing airport, building, and infrastructure projects using AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM workflows while coordinating with engineers and consultants.
Artelia Airports is seeking a motivated Architect to join the Design Team and contribute to the successful delivery of aviation, building and infrastructure projects. The Architect will support senior architects and design managers in the development, coordination and delivery of architectural design packages, ensuring compliance with project requirements, applicable codes and standards, quality objectives and project schedules.
The Architect will report to the Senior Architect, Design Manager or Head of Architecture and will work in coordination with:
- Artelia Airports staff: Senior Architects, Design Managers, BIM Manager, BIM Coordinators and multidisciplinary design teams.
- Internal and external collaborators: Architectural, Structural, MEP, Civil and Infrastructure Engineers.
- Sustainability, Fire & Life Safety, wayfinding and specialist consultants as required.
- Partners, sub-consultants, suppliers, contractors, client representatives, stakeholders and relevant authorities under the supervision of senior team members.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design Delivery
- Be an active member of the design team in the delivery of projects from concept through detailed design and construction documentation stages.
- Assist in the preparation of architectural drawings, design reports, schedules, specifications, presentations and tender documentation.
- Support senior architects in developing layouts, plans, sections, elevations, details and design coordination material.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with applicable international and UAE codes, standards, authority requirements and project-specific design criteria.
- Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews, coordination meetings and design workshops.
- Assist in coordinating architectural design with structural, MEP, civil, infrastructure, Fire & Life Safety, sustainability and specialist disciplines.
- Support the integration of architectural deliverables within BIM models and multidisciplinary environments.
- Support the preparation of authority submissions and responses to authority or client comments.
- Ensure assigned deliverables are completed in accordance with project schedules and quality requirements.
- Participate in internal quality reviews before submission and assist in resolving design coordination issues.
Documentation
- Prepare project deliverables in accordance with Company and Client standards.
- Maintain proper records of design inputs, drawings, schedules, reports, specifications, correspondence and review comments.
- Ensure project documentation is updated and archived in accordance with quality procedures.
- Follow Company quality management and document control requirements.
Coordination
- Coordinate assigned architectural activities with engineering, BIM and specialist disciplines.
- Support coordination with sub-consultants, suppliers and contractors where required.
- Liaise with BIM teams to ensure consistency between drawings, models, schedules and design documentation.
- Assist senior team members during client, stakeholder and authority review processes.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 2 to 5 years of professional experience in Architecture, preferably within a multidisciplinary engineering consultancy environment. Experience on aviation, building, commercial, mixed-use, hospitality or infrastructure projects would be an advantage.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or equivalent. UAE Ministry of Education equivalency shall be provided where required for the role, professional registration or authority submissions.
- Eligibility to work in the UAE, with appropriate residence and employment authorisation in accordance with applicable requirements.
- Good understanding of architectural design principles, construction documentation, multidisciplinary coordination and authority submission requirements.
- Basic knowledge of UAE statutory authority requirements, building codes, Fire & Life Safety principles and accessibility requirements would be an advantage.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit and Microsoft Office. Familiarity with BIM processes and multidisciplinary coordination is required.
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, Rhino, Navisworks or other design coordination tools would be an advantage.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage parallel assignments and meet tight deadlines, with strong attention to detail.
- Strong communication, coordination and report-writing skills in English. Additional language capability would be an advantage.
