Junior Consolidation Specialist

Second Foundation is an international energy trading and asset management firm headquartered in Prague, Czech Republic, with offices in Switzerland, Germany, Japan and the US. Our team of around 500 professionals specializes in power trading, transforming complex data into market-leading trading strategies through advanced technology and sophisticated quantitative modeling.

We are currently looking for a junior specialist to join our Consolidation team.

This role is a great opportunity for someone with an accounting, financial reporting, audit, controlling or similar finance background who would like to further develop their expertise in IFRS consolidation while working extensively with financial data, systems, and reporting tools.

What you’ll work on:

• Work with financial data from multiple entities, performing data checks, reconciliations, validations and investigating inconsistencies.
• Support the implementation and setup of the consolidation tool, including system testing, data mapping, data validation, and user acceptance testing.
• Work with large datasets and help improve the efficiency and automation of consolidation and reporting processes.
• Contribute to the quarterly preparation of the Group’s IFRS
• Support intercompany reconciliations, eliminations, consolidation adjustments and related controls to ensure the accuracy and consistency of consolidated financial information.
• Prepare consolidation inputs.
• Help identify data and process inconsistencies and contribute to practical improvements in financial reporting and consolidation workflows.
• Cooperate with colleagues across accounting, reporting, tax, treasury and other finance functions during closing and consolidation periods.

What we’re looking for:

• 1-2 years of relevant experience in accounting, financial reporting, audit, controlling or similar finance role.
• A good understanding of financial statements and accounting principles; knowledge of IFRS is an advantage.
• Previous exposure to group consolidation, intercompany reconciliations or consolidated financial statements is an advantage, but not required.
• Strong analytical skills and an interest in working with financial data, systems and reporting tools.
• Ability to identify inconsistencies, investigate differences and understand how data flows through financial processes.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including experience with pivot tables and advanced formulas; knowledge of Power Query or similar tools is an advantage.
• Experience with SQL, Power BI, data modelling or working with larger datasets is an advantage.
• An interest in financial systems, process automation and improving the way financial data is collected, processed and reported.
• A structured and detail-oriented approach, combined with a willingness to learn and take ownership of assigned responsibilities.
• A proactive and curious mindset with an interest in understanding both the financial and technical aspects of consolidation.
• Fluent in Czech and English; German or Japanese is an advantage.
