Junior Data Engineer (KDB)

Summary

Build and optimize KDB+/q time-series databases for financial markets, creating low-latency analytics and APIs used by traders, quants, and AI models.

You will join the AI Markets development team and work with KDB+/q, one of the most advanced time-series database technologies used in financial markets. The team delivers reporting, analytics, and management information for traders, quants, sales teams, senior management, and external clients. You will help develop high-performance data solutions, optimize access to large datasets, and support AI Markets capabilities through scalable analytics and APIs while collaborating with global teams across Europe, Asia, and North America.

  • Develop and optimize KDB+ processes and queries for low-latency and high-throughput applications
  • Build analytics and aggregation layers consumed by downstream systems, APIs, and AI/ML models
  • Expose KDB+ data and analytics through APIs and services
  • Work with AI and data engineering teams to prepare datasets for model training and execution
  • Implement monitoring, alerting, and capacity management for KDB+ environments
  • Support resilience, failover, and disaster recovery capabilities for critical services
  • Collaborate with traders, quants, sales teams, and product owners to deliver business solutions
  • Ensure compliance with operational risk, model risk, and data governance requirements
  • Participate in data analysis, testing, and software delivery activities
  • Analytical mindset with a passion for solving complex data engineering problems
  • Strong computer science fundamentals
  • Knowledge of functional programming concepts or experience with languages such as Clojure, Haskell, or Scala
  • Interest in vectorized programming approaches using Python, R, Matlab/Octave, or Wolfram Mathematica
  • Passion for technology, automation, and continuous improvement
  • Interest in large‑scale data processing and basic statistical concepts
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn Linux and client‑server technologies
  • Interest in cloud infrastructure and AI/ML technologies
  • Ability to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Strong collaboration and problem‑solving skills
