The Role
This is your foot in the door to hotel management at one of Auckland's most iconic properties. As Junior Duty Manager at QT Auckland, you'll be stepping into a leadership role that puts you at the heart of the hotel's daily operations, running shifts, supporting the front office team, overseeing hotel security and making real decisions that shape the guest experience. This is a permanent, full-time role with a minimum guaranteed 30 hours per week and a genuine pathway for someone who is ready to grow fast in hotel management. Key Responsibilities

Run hotel shifts in the absence of the Duty Manager, acting as the face and ambassador of QT Auckland and ensuring all departments are adequately staffed, briefed and operating to standard.
Be the go-to for guests, handling complaints, special requests and VIP arrivals with professionalism, warmth and genuine urgency, resolving issues on the spot wherever possible.
Actively drive room rate, occupancy and F&B sales opportunities on shift, supporting upselling and promotion of hotel features, packages and facilities.
Conduct regular floor walks across all public areas, reception, restaurants and external spaces, maintaining presentation standards and identifying and resolving any operational issues proactively.
Maintain the hotel duty log, accurately recording all shift information, incidents and handover notes for the Duty Manager.
Lead crisis management and emergency response on shift in the absence of the Duty Manager, ensuring all security, health and safety and evacuation procedures are followed at all times.

What You'll Bring

Full driver's license is essential for Valet Parking.
Previous experience in a hotel front office, guest services or supervisory hospitality role. This role requires a relevant diploma or at least three years of equivalent work experience.
A natural ability to lead with confidence, connect with guests and make sound decisions under pressure.
Strong commercial awareness with an understanding of room rate, yield management and upselling strategies.
Solid knowledge of hotel systems and front office operations, with the ability to become fully conversant across all hotel computer systems.
A current LCQ/Manager's Certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
Flexibility to work a rotating roster including mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays.
