Junior Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE)
Junior Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE)
About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and technically capable Junior
Forward Deployed Engineer to work alongside our customers and senior
FDEs, helping design, build, and ship solutions on top of our platform. This is
a hands-on, customer-facing engineering role where you'll get exposure to rapid
prototyping, full stack development, and real-world problem-solving as you help
turn customer requirements into production-ready software.
You will support customer engagements alongside more senior
team members, contributing to integrations, translating requirements into
working code, and iterating quickly based on customer feedback, while building
the skills to run engagements more independently over time.
If you enjoy solving real-world problems, want early
exposure to customer-facing engineering, and are energized by a fast-paced,
high-ownership environment — we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Deployment & Solutioning
- Work
alongside senior FDEs and customers to understand workflows, data, and
business goals, and help translate those needs into technical solutions
built on our platform.
- Python
and React experience is mandatory for building integrations,
internal tools, and customer-facing applications.
- Build
and deploy integrations, data pipelines, and workflow automations
using Java, Python, React, Angular, MongoDB,
and AI/ML integrations, under the guidance of senior team
members.
- Contribute
to rapid prototyping efforts with customers, iterating in tight feedback
loops to move from concept to working demo quickly.
- Support
the integration of AI/ML capabilities into customer
deployments, including LLM-powered features (OpenAI, Anthropic, or
open-source models), recommendation engines, and automation pipelines.
- Help
design and implement RESTful APIs, microservices, and cloud-native
components for customer environments.
- Provide
day-to-day technical support to customers post-deployment, troubleshooting
issues and escalating complex problems to senior engineers as needed.
Technical Execution & Quality
- Write
clean, well-tested code under real deployment timelines and shifting
requirements.
- Follow
and help reinforce testing strategies, CI/CD practices, and DevOps
standards across deployed solutions.
- Flag
technical debt, performance bottlenecks, and potential security issues in
customer environments to senior engineers.
- Contribute
to reusable components and internal tooling that speed up future customer
deployments.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Act
as a day-to-day technical point of contact for customers, escalating to
senior FDEs or product management when needed.
- Share
field learnings and customer feedback with the product team to help inform
the roadmap.
- Communicate
project progress and technical updates clearly to both technical and
non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborate
closely with senior FDEs, product, and engineering to deliver successful
customer outcomes.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 2-4
years of professional software engineering experience; prior
exposure to customer-facing, consulting, or solutions engineering work is
a plus but not required.
- Solid
experience with Python — back-end services, scripting,
automation, and/or data pipeline development.
- Solid
front-end skills in React — component architecture, state
management (Redux/Context API), and testing.
OR
- Working
knowledge of Angular — modules, services, RxJS, and SPA
development.
- Ability
to contribute to distributed, cloud-native architectures with guidance
from senior engineers.
- Some
experience integrating AI/ML services into applications —
including LLMs, vector databases, or ML model deployment (e.g., OpenAI
API, LangChain, Hugging Face, TensorFlow, or PyTorch) — is a strong plus.
- Familiarity
with prompt engineering and RAG (Retrieval-Augmented
Generation) concepts is a plus.
- Working
knowledge of MongoDB — schema design, aggregation
pipelines, and indexing.
- Familiarity with
cloud platforms (Azure, or OCI), Docker, and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity
with CI/CD tooling (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, etc.) and DevOps
fundamentals.
- Comfortable
working directly with customers — good communication and organizational
skills, with an eagerness to learn.
- Willingness
to travel to customer sites as needed.
What We Offer
- Hands-on
mentorship from senior FDEs and direct exposure to customer-facing
engineering early in your career.
- A
clear growth path toward more senior, independent FDE responsibilities.
- A
fast-paced, high-ownership environment where you help shape both the
product and how it's deployed.
- Competitive
compensation and benefits.
- A
collaborative team culture that values learning, autonomy, and customer
impact.
