Junior Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE)
About the role
Insavlo is seeking a Junior Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) based in Singapore. This is a hands-on, client-facing technical role that combines AI / Software Development & Model Training with Pre-sales, Implementation & Post-sales Technical Support. You will work closely with Insavlo's technical team, customers, and research partners across Asia to deploy, improve, and support AI-driven document intelligence solutions. This role is ideal for early-career candidates with strong academic projects, internships, research experience, or hands-on personal projects.
Key responsibilities
Develop and enhance Insavlo's AI and document intelligence capabilities using Python.
Build scripts, APIs, data processing pipelines, prototypes, and integration components.
Support lightweight web development using HTML, JavaScript, TypeScript, and Vue.js.
Design, test, and optimize prompts for LLM-based document understanding and information extraction.
Assist with model training, fine-tuning, dataset preparation, evaluation, and benchmarking.
Collaborate with Singapore government research institutions and technology partners on AI model development and experimentation.
Support technical pre-sales activities across Southeast Asia and Greater China.
Participate in customer meetings, product demos, proof-of-concepts (POCs), workshops, and solution design discussions.
Support implementation projects from POC through production go-live.
Configure and integrate Insavlo's solutions with customer APIs, databases, systems, and workflows.
About you
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Strong foundation in Python and software development.
Familiarity with HTML, JavaScript, TypeScript, and Vue.js.
Strong interest in and practical understanding of Prompt Engineering and Large Language Models (LLMs).
Basic understanding of machine learning, including training, fine-tuning, inference, and model evaluation.
Familiarity with APIs, JSON, databases, Linux, Docker, or cloud environments is an advantage.
Exposure to OCR, Document AI, RAG, multimodal AI, computer vision, or AI agents is a plus.
Strong ownership – takes responsibility for driving work end-to-end.
High initiative – proactively identifies issues and moves things forward without waiting for detailed instructions.
Fast learning ability – quickly picks up unfamiliar technologies and concepts.
