Junior Interior Designer
Functional roles and responsibilities
To create interior design and decoration schemes to suit client requirements and supervise interior designers’ projects.
- Establish and maintain contacts with potential clients to understand their design and decoration requirements to leverage business.
- Keep abreast of the current design trends and be aware of new furniture and fabric collections by suppliers.
- Discuss and analyse clients’ requirements and prepare presentation boards/proposals to include layouts (this would include working in conjunction with an AutoCAD operator), finishes, materials, furniture, fabrics and accessories selected for presentation and approval of clients.
- Prepare detailed quotations and contract (where applicable), once the scheme has been approved and prepare all third-party, local and overseas orders and pass to the buying department to process.
- Inspect all furniture and fabrics upon arrival and supervise delivery and installation of all items, including site supervision, if any, to ensure a high-quality finish.
- Keep client posted on the progress and hand over the site to the client once it is completed and obtain their approval on completion of project to their satisfaction.
- Ensure that payment terms are adhered to by the client and ensure that all payments are received and all invoices are made as per payment schedule of the agreement.
- Coordinate with the tailoring team – soft furnishings for any client requirements specific to soft furnishings.
- Support design team with floorplan layouts and 3D models and presentations.
Education/certification and continued education
Degree or diploma in interior design/architecture.
Years of experience
1-2 years experience in architectural and interior design project management.
