Position Summary:
Reef is seeking a highly creative and detail-oriented Junior Interior Designer to join our design team for some of our most exciting properties and developments. The Junior Interior Designer is responsible for working with members of the design team to assist in the development and execution of interior design concepts, finish selections, and spatial layouts for assigned project scopes.
This role translates approved design systems and experiential intent into project-level interior environments, ensuring the design choices align with Reef's portfolio standards, budget parameters, and construction schedules. The ideal candidate has a early career-level design portfolio, a refined aesthetic, and full-time experience working on upscale residential or mixed-use developments.
Responsibilities:
- Assist senior designers in developing space plans, mood boards, and design concepts for assigned projects
- Prepare and revise drawings, floor plans, elevations, and 3D renderings using AutoCAD, SketchUp, and/or Revit
- Source and specify furniture, fixtures, equipment (FF&E), materials, and finishes within budget and brand guidelines
- Maintain and update the materials/finishes library and vendor samples
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and suppliers to obtain pricing, samples, and lead times
- Support procurement processes, including generating purchase orders and tracking order status
- Conduct site visits to measure spaces, assess conditions, and monitor installation progress
- Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, ADA requirements, and safety standards
- Assist in preparing client presentations and design proposals
- Organize and maintain project files, specifications, and documentation throughout the design process
- Perform other design support duties as assigned by senior team members
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
- 1-2 years of relevant full-time experience in interior design roles; experience with sketching, rendering and AI visualization is highly preferred
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and/or Revit; working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite a plus
- Understanding of space planning, materials, finishes, FF&E selection, and lighting principles
- Familiarity with building codes, ADA requirements, and industry safety standards
- Strong hand-sketching and 3D rendering skills to communicate design concepts
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with ability to take direction from senior designers
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple project deadlines
