Junior IT Support Officer

Perilya is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Junior IT Support Officer to join our Information Technology team based in Broken Hill, NSW.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain broad exposure across IT support, infrastructure, systems administration, cybersecurity, data management, and technology projects while working alongside experienced IT professionals in a dynamic mining environment.

About the Role

Reporting to the IT Superintendent, you will play an important role in supporting the delivery of IT services across our operations. This entry-level position has been designed to help develop your technical skills, professional capabilities, and practical experience while contributing to the success of the business.

You will assist with service desk support, troubleshooting, hardware and software maintenance, project implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives across multiple sites.

Key Responsibilities

IT Support & Service Delivery

• Provide first-level IT support for users across the business.

• Assist with troubleshooting hardware, software, networking, and application issues.

• Support the IT service desk by triaging and resolving support tickets.

• Escalate complex technical issues to senior team members when required.

• Assist with user account administration, software installations, and device setup.

Systems & Infrastructure

• Support the maintenance of IT hardware, software, and business systems.

• Assist with routine maintenance activities and system health checks.

• Help maintain asset registers, system documentation, and knowledge base articles.

• Contribute to backup, recovery, and data integrity processes.

Projects & Continuous Improvement

• Assist with technology upgrades, hardware refreshes, and new system implementations.

• Participate in testing, documentation, and deployment of new technologies.

• Support initiatives that improve operational efficiency and user experience.

Data & Information Management

• Assist with data cleansing, validation, and reporting activities.

• Help maintain accurate records and documentation.

• Contribute to information management and data governance practices.

Security & Compliance

• Follow IT security policies and procedures.

• Assist with cybersecurity awareness and compliance activities.

• Report potential security incidents or vulnerabilities.

• Support security assessments and documentation requirements.

About You

We're looking for someone who is eager to learn, enjoys solving problems, and has a genuine passion for technology.

Essential Requirements

• Recent graduate (within the last two years) with a degree in:

  • Information Technology

  • Computer Science

  • Information Systems

  • Or a related discipline

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

• Basic understanding of IT infrastructure, operating systems, and business applications.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

• A proactive attitude and willingness to learn new technologies.

Highly Regarded

• Knowledge of AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot.

• Understanding of data and information management principles.

• Exposure to Power BI reporting and dashboard creation.

• Basic SQL query writing and database knowledge.

• IT support internship, work placement, or project experience.

• Current driver's licence.
