Your Impact

We’re looking for a curious and motivated Junior/ Mid Engineer to join our Technology team in Bowen Hills. This is a backend-focused opportunity for someone with around one to two years of commercial development experience who is keen to grow into a highly capable engineer over the long term.

You’ll work alongside experienced developers and technical leads, contributing to services and platforms that support Entain’s products. While technical foundations are important, we’re particularly interested in people who demonstrate curiosity, strong problem-solving ability, enthusiasm for learning and the potential to progress beyond a junior level.

A Day in the Life

• Contribute to the design and implementation of efficient, scalable and robust solutions to suit project requirements.
• Backend engineering to implement tasks using compiled languages (Golang/Python).
• Data querying and manipulation using database technologies, including relational databases and nosql solutions (mongo).
• Be active in team collaboration - issue resolution, code review, showcases, discussing solutions with other engineers, production of documentation.
• Diagnose and triage errors using logging and metric tools – Loki logs, Grafana etc.
• Frontend engineering to complete smaller tasks using JavaScript and associated libraries (React).

Your Strengths

• Exposure to a compiled language. Golang experience preferred but not necessary.
• Basic understanding or experience with NoSQL and relational databases.
• Basic understanding or experience with Apache Kafka or similar queueing technology.
• Familiar with REST and/or gRPC APIs
• Ability to design and implement small feature requests or bug fixes autonomously.
• Understanding of the concepts of microservices vs service-oriented architectures.
• Mid-level development skills in JavaScript.
• Experience with containerised applications: Kubernetes, Docker.
• Experience engaging with staff across different teams to facilitate outcomes.
