Comtex is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Junior Network Engineer to join our growing technical team in Sydney.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a solid Microsoft 365 background who wants to expand their skills across enterprise networking, network design, cybersecurity and managed IT services.
Working alongside experienced engineers, you will support a diverse range of commercial and residential networks, gaining exposure to major projects and leading networking technologies.
We are looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, takes ownership of customer issues and is keen to develop their technical career.
About the Role
You will be involved in the day-to-day support, monitoring and management of customer networks and ICT systems, as well as assisting with new projects and network deployments.
Key responsibilities include:
Microsoft 365 Support: Administration and troubleshooting of Microsoft 365 environments, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive.
Help Desk: Provide Level 1 and Level 2 technical support, resolving customer IT and networking issues.
Network Support: Assist with configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of switches, routers, firewalls and wireless networks.
Network Design Assistance: Work with senior engineers on network designs, equipment selection and technical documentation.
Remote Programming: Assist with remote configuration and commissioning of networking equipment.
Remote Monitoring: Monitor customer networks, investigate alerts, identify faults and coordinate corrective actions.
Network Maintenance: Support scheduled maintenance, firmware upgrades, system backups and performance reporting.
Technical Documentation: Maintain accurate network diagrams, configuration records and customer system documentation.
About You
Essential Requirements
Demonstrated hands-on experience supporting and administering the Microsoft 365 technology stack – essential.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), user administration, permissions and security.
Familiarity with Microsoft Intune and device management.
A sound understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, LAN, WAN and Wi-Fi.
Previous experience in an IT help desk, network support or technical support environment.
Strong troubleshooting skills and a customer-focused approach.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
A positive attitude, initiative and a genuine willingness to learn.
Highly Regarded
Exposure to Ruckus, Cisco, HPE Aruba, Fortinet or similar networking products.
Microsoft or networking certifications such as MS-900, AZ-900, CCNA or CompTIA Network+.
Experience with network monitoring and remote management platforms.
Basic firewall configuration and cybersecurity knowledge.
Experience supporting commercial or multi-site networks.
